Setting it up

   Install the Prayer Times app

   • Setup is done from the free Prayer Times app on your phone.
   • Install it from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

   Open the Display screen

   • Open the app and tap the Worship tab at the bottom.
   • Tap the three-line menu icon at the top right to open the sidebar.
   • Tap Display.
   • Tap "Link a display".
   • If the stand is fitted and the display is already switched on, tap "Already set up? Skip to Bluetooth" on the first step.
   • Shortcut: when the display's screen says "Bluetooth setup" it also shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone's camera to open the app at the Bluetooth step.

   Fit the stand

   • Find the white stand, the screw and the small screwdriver in the box.
   • Lay the display face down on something soft and flat, such as the foam it came in, so the screen doesn't get scratched.
   • Turn it so the screw hole on the back is at the bottom.
   • Place the stand over the hole with the stand's screw hole facing up towards you.
   • Put the screw in and tighten it until the stand is firm. Don't overtighten.

   Charge the display

   • Turn the display so its back faces you.
   • The USB-C port is on the left edge of the raised section, below the power switch.
   • Plug the USB-C cable into it, and the other end into a charger.
   • Leave it to charge. You can carry on with setup while it charges.

   Switch it on

   • Turn the display so its back faces you.
   • The power switch is on the left edge of the raised section, above the USB-C port.
   • Slide it to ON.
   • Turn the display round and wait for the screen to say "Bluetooth setup".
   • If it still shows the welcome screen, press any of the three buttons on top.

   Turn on Bluetooth

   • Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
   • Keep your phone within a metre or two of the display.
   • If your phone asks to allow Bluetooth for Prayer Times, tap Allow.

   Choose your city and masjid

   • Choose the city and masjid the display should show.
   • You can change these later in the app.

   Register your display

   • Enter your name, email and purchase date. These are for your warranty.
   • Accept the privacy policy, then tap Next.

   Connect

   • The app finds your display by itself.
   • This can take up to 20 seconds.

    Choose your home Wi-Fi

    • The app lists the Wi-Fi networks your display can see. This can take up to a minute.
    • Tap your home network. If it isn't in the list, tap "My network isn't listed" and type its name.
    • Enter the Wi-Fi password. Tap Show to check what you typed.
    • The network must be 2.4 GHz. The display can't join 5 GHz networks.
    • Tap "Set up display".
    • You are not asked for a pairing code. Over Bluetooth, the display and the app link by themselves.
    • Within a minute or two the display shows today's prayer times. Setup is finished.

If Bluetooth won't connect

Press the Right button on the display once (a quick press, not a hold). It switches to Wi-Fi setup and shows a QR code. Scan the code with your phone's camera, join the display's network, and pick your home Wi-Fi on the page that opens.

This is the only way of setting up that uses a pairing code. Once it has joined your Wi-Fi, the display shows a 6-character code (using the characters 23456789ABCDEFGHJKMNPQRSTUVWXYZ). In the app, tap "Use Wi-Fi + QR code instead", type the code into the box that appears, then tap "Link with this code". With the normal Bluetooth setup above, no code is shown and there is nothing to type.

What the buttons do

The display has three buttons on its top edge. The same guide is in the app: tap the Worship tab, tap the three-line menu icon at the top right, tap Display, then tap the help icon at the top.

What to expect

• Prayer times refresh once a day automatically.
• Battery lasts up to 10 months on a single charge.
• It beeps once when Wi-Fi joins, twice after setup or a successful resync, and twice on a lower tone if something fails. Prayer begin is three beeps; jamaat is four.
• First-batch orders are being dispatched now.
